Born in Cambodia to a traditional medicine practitioner and a midwife, Dr. Khounh was introduced to the principles of natural healing at an early age. Growing up surrounded by herbal medicine and holistic therapies, he witnessed their profound impact on health and well-being. These early experiences inspired his lifelong commitment to helping patients achieve optimal health through comprehensive, individualized care. After immigrating to the United States at the age of 13, Dr. Khounh earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Pre-Med) from Cabrini University. He began his professional career in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, where he has spent more than two decades contributing to research and development, drug discovery, and clinical research across multiple biopharmaceutical organizations. His extensive scientific background provides a strong foundation for understanding complex disease processes while complementing his holistic approach to patient care. Inspired to carry forward his family’s healing tradition, Dr. Khounh earned a Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Texas Health and Science University in 2002. He later completed his Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine through the American Academy of Health and Wellness (formerly the American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine), further expanding his expertise in integrating traditional healing practices with modern medical science. In addition to his work in pharmaceutical research, Dr. Khounh has maintained an active clinical practice in acupuncture and integrative medicine for more than 25 years. From 2010 through the conclusion of the 2021 NHL season, he served as a contracted acupuncturist for the Philadelphia Flyers, providing specialized care to professional athletes to enhance recovery, optimize performance, prevent injury, and support overall wellness. Since 2014, Dr. Khounh has been dedicated to integrative oncology, providing supportive acupuncture care for patients undergoing treatment for breast and ovarian cancer. He began this work at the Doylestown Health Wellness Center, collaborating with oncology teams to help patients manage the side effects of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and immunotherapy while improving their quality of life throughout treatment. He continues this important work today through Unite for HER, a nonprofit organization that provides complementary therapies and wellness services to individuals affected by breast and ovarian cancers. He earned his Master’s Degree in Acupuncture from the Won Institute of Graduate Studies in Warminster, PA, and further expanded his clinical knowledge through specialized training at Wonkwang University in Iksan, Korea, where he completed the Korean Medicine Field Study program. Before pursuing acupuncture, Marvin earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Temple University. During that time, he worked as a certified personal trainer, designing customized fitness programs for seniors, adolescents, and individuals with special needs. She earned her master’s degree and certification in both elementary and special education, dedicating ten years of her life to teaching in public schools. Over time, however, she couldn’t ignore the growing toll that stress was having on the people around her family, friends, and colleagues. She saw firsthand how it impacted both the mind and body, and knew she wanted to do more to help. That’s when Monica discovered acupuncture. Drawn to its incredible ability to support the body in managing stress and restoring balance, she decided to shift her focus and expand her ability to care for others. She enrolled at Won Institute of Graduate Studies, where she completed her master’s degree in acupuncture in August 2024. During her time at Won, she had the privilege of interning at the Won Institute Student Acupuncture Clinic and the Tui Na Manual Therapy Clinic. She also provided community care at the Stephen Klein Wellness Center and the Veterans Multi-Service Center in Philadelphia—experiences that deepened her appreciation for acupuncture’s role in supporting overall wellness. Additionally, she pursued her NADA detoxification specialist certification at the New York Harm Reduction Clinic, further expanding her ability to serve those in need. As a Won Student Ambassador, she loved sharing her passion by promoting the Institute to prospective students, patients, and the local community.
